Your CUP

WHAT IS YOUR CUP?

The other day, I was meditating on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Easter) and it dawned on me that Jesus was dealt a “cup” of dying for the sins of men and he drank of that cup willingly.

Then I started thinking to myself “Ize, what is your cup?” Everyone has been dealt a cup, and no it isn’t to die on the cross like Jesus for the sins of the world, rather, your cup is the reason you were born in the first place. Your purpose is your cup. Jesus said in Mark 10:45 that He came to serve and to give His life as ransom for many. And if we believe in Him, we will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Jesus knew the cup He was dealt and that kept Him focused on the goal He aimed to achieve.

We all have a cup we have been dealt, but a better suited name would be Purpose; purpose isn’t a new topic to us because it is an everyday topic of conversation. Thousands of books have been written about it and countless number of sermons, debates and talks about it. Today, I just want to ask you this simple question: what is your cup? What have you been dealt with to achieve in your lifetime on earth? Jesus is your perfect example on how to drink of the cup you have been dealt. Study the life of Jesus and you will understand the importance of the cup.

Jesus kept His eyes on the goal He aimed to achieve based on the cup He was dealt. Everything He did pushed Him towards achieving that goal. He eradicated distractions and stayed focused on the goal. He stated that He could do nothing of Himself but what He sees His Father do (John 5:19). To be able to do what His Father does, Jesus had to stay in close proximity to His Father so He could see and follow suit. That was the lifestyle of Jesus while He was on earth.

Now, we all have been dealt a cup in different measures and we are going to give account someday. God has also blessed us with wisdom, talents and skills to help carry out the mission the cup entails. How are you drinking from this cup? To stand before God to give an account should be enough motivation to get busy but must I add that your cup is the only thing that will make you feel truly fulfilled. Nothing else would do.

Go think about it today.

Cheers.
