SUMMER CLOTHES IN WINTER?

Just the other day, I decided to reshuffle my wardrobe because the season was changing from Summer to Autumn. I decked up in my warm clothing and took the long walk from the bedroom to the living room. Then I halted to look at my clothes from head to toe. I thought to myself, just a short while ago, I was wearing tees and shorts and here I am today, I can’t seem to keep warm in ordinary long sleeves and tights. Then I heard in my Spirit “As the Seasons change, so does the Seasons of your life.” Still standing there, I thought to myself; how many times have I tried to wear Summer Clothes in Winter? Sounds absurd right? But I can tell you for certain that I have done that in different seasons of my life.

If you are anything like me, you may have mismatched clothes during different seasons of your life or worse still, stuck to a particular season’s clothes in the next because you are “used to/accustomed” to the previous season’s clothes. This may actually work for a bit but soon you realize you need to start making some adjustments here and there to suit the needs of the new season because some things just ain’t right.

LIFE HAPPENS IN SEASONS!

Learn to swap clothes for the different seasons of your life no matter how much you love the previous season. Remember that Spring will come around again, so will Winter and Summer and Autumn. Do not be too sad if a season you love so much is short lived. Do not become complacent to the point of not identifying a change in season when it does appear. Be on your toes, be vigilant and sensitive else you will be caught unawares. Also, do not compare your current season with some else’s because that is unwise (2Cor. 10:12). Rather, stay focused on your current season, work at it with all your might and ask the Holy Spirit to help you identify the needs for each season (like the most appropriate clothes for the season), so you can make the most of it.

Ephesians 5:15 says “So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.”
