DISGUISING HYPOCRITE

I heard it clearly.

Just when the hot water hit my face and ran down my cheeks down to my neck…

I heard the words “Don’t be a disguising hypocrite”

I wondered why though because I felt like I was doing just okay…

Then I got the message immediately. It wasn’t farfetched. It was closer than I thought.

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (1John 1:5-7 NKJV).

A disguising hypocrite is who? The one who professes light but walks in darkness. Let me bring it home a bit… The one whose actions do not match what he/she says is a disguising hypocrite. So when I heard that in the shower, I had a choice to make…

  1. to be a known hypocrite
  2. to continue being a disguising hypocrite
  3. to live a life where my actions match my words.

The third option is my goal. But if I fall back to number two, I have the Holy Spirit to caution and correct me because the actual life of number 3 is a journey that ends when I breathe my last.

Note to self:

  1. If you aren’t living it, do not advise anyone else otherwise.
  2. If you cannot do it, do not say it
  3. If it isn’t producing fruit in your own life, how dare you invite someone into your barren existence? To live the desert lifestyle or to laugh at your God?

Conclusion: Say what you know has proven to be true in your life so you have a testimony to back it up. And if you are still working/walking the path, be sure to say it outright and not disguise. The Christian lifestyle is a fruitful lifestyle, so stop making it look like it isn’t by being a Disguising Hypocrite that is all talk and no fruit.

“Do you see a conceited man who speaks quickly (offering his opinions or answering without thinking)? There is more hope for a thickheaded fool than for him. (Proverbs 29:20 Amp)
