“Keeping Pace or Keeping Peace”

No matter what you’re tempted to compare, there will always be someone with more than you and there will always be someone with less. Whether you compare husbands or hair, there will always be someone else to envy and someone envying you.

So you have a choice: either keep pace or keep peace.

Comparison will tempt you to keep pace, to accumulate more. The parable of the Rich Fool in Luke 12:16-21 illustrates that accumulating more is a worthless pursuit if what you’re accumulating isn’t put to good use for God’s purposes. The wise choice is peace with what God has entrusted to you.

In some areas, he’s given you more than others—maybe you’re a talented singer or gifted writer. In other ways, you may come up short—perhaps you had a challenging childhood or disappointing marriage. But God doesn’t ask you to change what you’ve been given. He asks you to use what you’ve been given.

Whether a lot or a little, what you have is less important than what you do with what you have.

TRY THIS: We all have a surplus of something. Brainstorm one area in which God has given you a surplus and commit to one thing you can do today to better use it for him.

I read the above article in my devotional in 2016 but I saved it because it blessed me so much then. Reading it again today proved to me that it is just as relevant today as it was almost 5years ago. I do not know if you are keeping pace or keeping peace but check your heart and see which you are doing and make the necessary changes. You’ve got just one life to live, don’t you think it would rather be a waste trying to play catch up with someone else’s life when you’ve got so much to offer?

  1. Very interested my dear I’m keeping the peace it’s better than any diamond or silver or any worldly competitiveness. The only person I compete with is me to be the best version of myself.

  2. Comparison steals today’s joy. Always seek to be content with what God blesses you with each day. The simple fact that one wakes up in the morning is a blessing!

  3. We forget the uniqueness of our individuality.

Peace like no other is what I will always choose.

    God bless you Ize.
